THE STAGE IS SET - A TEST OF “TEN”ACITY OF THE WORLD’S BEST!

 


October 5, 2023: The quadrennial premier cricket tournament in the One-day International (ODI) format returns to India after 12 years. The two-time champion host nation, riding on 1.4 billion dreams, once again enters the fray with a renewed vigour to conquer the ultimate cricketing glory.

The 13th edition of the ICC men’s cricket world cup starts on 5th October and culminates in a grand finale on 19th November 2023, both at one of the biggest stadiums in the world, the Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad.

Ten teams will participate: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

For the first time, the two-time champions West Indies will not be part of the tournament.  For the first time, an ODI World Cup tournament, in coloured clothes, is being played in India where Sachin Tendulkar is not a part of the team.


The tournament will take place in ten different stadiums across India. Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Delhi, Mohali, and Dharamsala will host the league matches. The semi-finals will be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The total prize money of the tournament is $10 million. The winner of the World Cup will receive a prize money of US $ 4 million and the runner-up will get US $2 million, the two losing semifinalists will each receive US $ 800,000.


Most teams boast of fire power with weapons of mass destruction like Virat Kohli, David Warner, Babar Azam, Jos Butler, Ben Stokes, Quinton de Kock, Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan and many more who will enthrall the cricket crazy fans across the world over the next seven weeks.

England, the defending champions, and their 2019 final opponent New Zealand will play the first match today.
